I’ve put together some of the best eateries, wineries and breweries scattered across the bay of islands that you MUST try leading up to your big day or post wedding day celebrations. Let’s not skip the fact that good food, wine, beer, and views are the best compliment to any love story!

Let’s get stuck into this Tasty line up!

01 – Terra // Paihia

Located in the heart of Paihia these guys are your go to if you’re planning a special romantic evening. Terra is one of the few fine dining eateries delivering fresh local flavors in the most artful yet delicious way. Currently they’re running their own set menu, ‘Taste of terra’, which comes with multiple dishes all paired bringing you a wide variety of exquisite dishes. Terra delivers more than just beautiful food, they truly master a fine-dining food experience, their eye for detail, flavor and service is worth noting.

This is for all you winery lovers, let’s start off by noting how damn tasty their rose is on a beautiful summer afternoon. Omata Estate is located across the ditch in the beautiful Russell. A family-owned treasure, these guys bring you some of the best wines in the north. If you’re looking for a cheeky trip out with all your bridesmaids, jump on the ferry and treat yourselves to wood fired pizzas, platters and of course plenty of wines! 03 – Plough and Feather // Kerikeri

Your number one spot for local craft beers and quality pub grub. Set up down by the Kerikeri basin, you’ll be lucky to find this local favourite! Being one of the few places to have 22 beer taps serving up an impressive range of their own craft beers, ciders and a few guests drops too. Their food aims to celebrate the culture, history, and stories of the people and land around us. You simply cannot beat a lazy Friday afternoon down at the plough, with their new garden bar which pumps out fresh wood fired pizzas and home-made burgers but don’t forget they have their restaurant inside if you’re wanting a special night in!

05 – The Duke of Marlborough // Russell

A timeless staple in the bay of islands, The Duke lends itself to the incredible location. Set up right along Russell’s coastline makes it a very popular spot. Not only does the duke have a magical view, they’re known to cater for big groups so perfect for those pre-wedding family dinners. Their menu aims to put a new spin on timeless favourites, heavily inspired by its coastal surrounding – if you’re wanting to try the flavours of the sea, you’ll be best to book yourselves a table.
